[jira] Closed: (OFBIZ-2157) Take a copy of XUI sources

Jacques Le Roux closed OFBIZ-2157.
----------------------------------

    Resolution: Later

Not sure it makes sense for 2 reasons
* We use 3.2rc2B because we got an issue with 3.2
* 3.2rc2B is not available anymore at http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=76693&package_id=198858

I will ask but I think I will get no real answers

Yes I foresee pain too, then ARIA should be our solution. There is also Apache Pivot in incubator
http://wiki.apache.org/incubator/PivotProposal
But I would be easier to migrate from XUI to ARIA since they provide tools for that...
http://www.xoetrope.com/
http://www.formaria.org/licensing

Note that we don't need to do that right now, just to keep it in mind...

XUI POS Future (was Re: [jira] Closed: (OFBIZ-2157) Take a copy of XUI sources)

Posted by David E Jones <da...@hotwaxmedia.com>.
I'm pretty strongly against maintaining XUI on our own. We did that
with Minerva for a while and had a series of issues with it before
moving away from it, and it was well worth it to do so!

It is unfortunate that the XUI community has fallen apart, but that
being the case IMO our next step should be to find a replacement for
XUI that is hopefully not too much different, and that we can use with
our current XUI XML files, or with some sort of transformed version of
them (they aren't huge, but if we have to redo them it is still a big
pain...).

If anyone knows of a good alternative, input is welcome! I'm not sure
if/who/when this will be happening, just wanted to get the discussion
started as it seems we'll have to do something like this sooner or
later...
