Logo

Have we finally settled enough on the attached logo (that Isabel used in
her talk) enough that I can remove the DRAFT stamp on it? From my
perspective we all liked this version, then experimented with some more
elaborate ideas briefly and finally came back to this one because it is
clean, simple and to the point.

I'm giving a Mahout talk to the Data Mining & Research Group at Yahoo!
Tuesday - similar in content to Isabel's - and find the DRAFT stamp to
be unnecessarily distracting. Are we are past that now?

Jeff

PS: Here the presentation, hopefully you can get it from the archive as
I notice the Apache list server strips attachments from the notifications.

Whatever looks best. I think, png would be best, but I can live of the
formats.

Sounds good to me.

That would be great.

We are really happy you created such a nice logo.

Hi,

formats ... etc). Should you have any inquiries don't hesitate to let me
know. I can't wait to see the logo on official Mahout webpage ;-)

Hey Lukas,

Can you upload this to JIRA? I think jpg or gif would be fine, but
feel free to put the others up too. The reason I ask for JIRA is b/c
you need to explicitly click the "Donate to the ASF" button.

Thanks,

Grant,

Are there any specific requirement about non SVG format file? Do you prefer
PNG, JPG or GIF? And what resolution (width x height)? Would it be helpful
if I provide let's say three different resolutions starting with small one
(like 100x100 pixels) to a bigger one (like 300x300 pixels)?

Do you also want me to prepare some favicon.ico?

Anyway, I am really happy that you found my logo proposal useful!

Where should I upload these files - Mahout wiki, Mahout SVN or anywhere
else?

I will add that to my conclusions. Actually, CollabNet has offered us
some EC2 time if we will help them test their deployment tools in the
process. I'll post about that separately.

Great. I would be intersted in the feedback you will get.

In return I will provide some feedback of my colleagues at Neofonie. I will
give a talk about Apache Con EU with a strong focus on Mahout, Solr and
Hadoop tomorrow. I think I can share the slides after removing some
internal-only content.

I would be happy with the logo as is - although some people had difficulties
recognising the mahout as a human. But that is easy enough once one has
explained the name.

> PS: Here the presentation, hopefully you can get it from the archive as

This one seems to have come through fine. It really is similar in content to
my talk :) On the slide on GSoC contributions you might want to mention the
algorithms the students proposed to implement - at least for the title of the
first proposal this is not quite obvious.

Isabel (I will be myself in vacation from May 1st to May 10th, probably w/o
internet connection...)

Perhaps just changing the color of "draft" to a light grey, so it
doesn't grab your attention, would be a quick-term fix until everyone

Hi,

just FYI, I am going on two week vacation starting tomorrow so I won't be
able to make any changes, final touches or delivering vector format now (my
bad :-( ).

Anyway, I am really happy you found the logo useful. I hope to contribute
