Dedicated release for the store section as well?

I was wondering, shouldn't we have a dedicated release for the stores
as well? Of course they completely rely on the core, but it might be
an idea to decouple them so the same release might work with both 2.1
and maybe later with 2.2.

Might make release cycles of the core - and maybe even of the stores -
even smaller.

If this is a good idea, anyone voluteering to be the RM for this?

Oliver

I agree with Stefan here. IMO there is not much value in a separate
stores release at this time. Not nearly enough to warrant the
additional management overhead.

I think makeing too much modules released independently, would introduce
a lot of work - we have to test with different versions, have to track
what versions have what problems together ...

I think the stores are not an independent component. So I wouldn't
release them separeted.

And I afraid that the next step will be different releases for different
stores too (:-). That would of course make some sense too, because they
have not much in common, but ...

This makes sense to me, but I'm concerned about fragmenting the releases
so much that it becomes harder for users to tell what's going on. Maybe
maven can help manage the complexity?

I'm just not looking forward to bugs that only surface with version
2.1.3 of the core combined with 2.2.4 of the stores and 2.1.7 of the
webdav server when using 2.4.1 of the client library. Just figuring out
what a user has installed will be a pain.

I do think separating out the stores is probably a good idea, though.
