[GitHub] incubator-ponymail issue #316: Bug: elastic.scan with search_type=scan disab...

GitHub user sebbASF opened an issue:

Bug: elastic.scan with search_type=scan disables sort yet callers use sort

    Both pminfo.lua and stats.lua use elastic.scan.
The queries include sort clauses (by date or epoch desc), however these are ignored when search_type=scan is used (as is currently the case for elastic.scan).

Does it even make sense to sort scrolled queries ?
By their very nature such queries are intended for large numbers of results, which will be very expensive to sort in general.

    ES 5.0 no longer supports search_type=scan [1]
Instead one can sort by _doc which is optimised to behave like search_type=scan

In the case of stats.lua, the results are sorted locally after retrieval. The same now applies to pminfo.lua (See #322). In these cases it looks like the sorting is needed in order to provide stable message thread analysis.
