[MARKETING] New Version of Updated OFBiz Logo

Hi Everyone

I've got an example of a proposed updated OFBiz logo to share with everyone.

https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/download/attachments/61317052/OFBiz%20Logo.png?api=v2

In fact there are two of them, one with the word Apache and one without. I've uploaded the sample logo here and it's the first one (i.e. the top line) with the white background that we are looking at.

For those who recognise it \u2013 we've gone a bit retro and picked up this circle icon from the original OFBiz logo when the project first came to Apache. Instead of using the original blue colour, we've incorporated the same (orange, red and purple) colour scheme as the new Apache feather. http://apache.org/

We've also changed the OFBiz lettering to orange as it seemed to go well with the new Apache colours.

For information we've also included some examples of what it would look like on different coloured backgrounds with white and black lettering.

Anyway please take a look and let me have your comments and feedback.

Thanks
Sharan

Hi Sharan, All,

Mmm... sorry to break the ambiance. I don't like it. Don't ask why, just a feeling at 1st glance.

I much preferred https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/download/attachments/61317052/UpdateOFBizLogo.png?api=v2

Where simply having a SVG font showing OFBiz (instead of ofbiz) with the Symbol would have made my day

Julien, all,

Your questions deserve a split answer, so here goes:

Re: Am I against a new logo.

In short: no, but when we embarked on this endeavour back in May ( started
with [1]), there were 2 options on the table. The majority of hose who
voiced their thought opted for [2].

Now, when this thread started we got [3], which is a total change of
direction and not in line with what came out the previous mentioned thread
[1]. And which is a do-over of a logo this community has done away with way
back when.

So in stead with working what had consensus [2], we are now revisiting the
initial discussion. I am just delivering my 2 cents, meaning:

I find this an irrelevant question, so I won't go into it much further than
saying: 'I find this an irrelevant question'.

However I think we should use the name "Apache OFBiz" because this is the
official name that was registered.

Change a logo is always a nightmare :)

I like your proposition even i think that missing the apache feather

As Jacopo, the proposition with Apache OFBiz is preferred.

Thanks Sharan,

I like.

Julien, I think the circle is distinct enough from the text the people will
read it as OFBiz and not COFBiz.

How hard would it be to have one more variant without a gradient? Keep the
lettering in blue and orange - perhaps the disk symbol in the dark teal
colour, same as the second of the reversed variants?

Cheers

Paul

Hi Sharan, Nicolas,

I agree with Nicolas here first it looked confusing to me too. New person
may read it as COFBiz. Not sure, what change can be made. I liked the color
scheme for sure.

Hi Sharan,

I like the idea but... some little details jump to my eyes.
If you are new on OFBiz, you may read COFBiz because of the circle...
I think the gradient make the icon too old school. I know that the
Apache feather have a gradient too but it's not the same. You could see
that some breaks in the feather gradient that let's feel it's not a logo
2000s :)
The other problem of the gradient is for printing on paper, it will be
really difficult to have a good colour control when you print without an
expensive printer.
Last point is about the first version (that could be the official), I'm
not really enthusiastic about the number of colours. Gradient + orange +
blue.

However, I like to use the old logo for the new one on the other proposal :)

Thanks for the work, I know that it's always time spent to create a new
logo from an original idea so, even I'm not positive on some details,
the work is good ^^

Julien.

Hi Sharan,

I like the new logo, it looks modern and (for people with a longer OFBiz
history) retro at the same time :-)

Well done!
