After the [fix|https://github.com/apache/hive/commit/8d63cafe8d0434d2fad0e6dfcb7c24744cef8d43] for https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/HIVE-27193, {{MetaStoreUtils#parseDbName()}} no longer throws a {{MetaException}}.
At https://github.com/apache/impala/blob/2115e49/fe/src/main/java/org/apache/impala/catalog/metastore/MetastoreServiceHandler.java#L3139 and https://github.com/apache/impala/blob/2115e49/fe/src/main/java/org/apache/impala/catalog/metastore/MetastoreServiceHandler.java#L3253, we still expect {{MetaStoreUtils#parseDbName()}} could throw a {{MetaException}}. We should remove those 2 catch blocks after upgrading to a CDP_BUILD_NUMBER that includes HIVE-27193.
