https://issues.apache.org/ooo/show_bug.cgi?id=124762

          Issue ID: 124762
        Issue Type: DEFECT

          Hardware: PC
                OS: Windows 7

          Severity: normal
          Priority: P3

Shows image interference with my document

My document is a diary based on a simple template which I copy within the
document each day for a month then start with again with the same template. The
document will be 32 pps long by the end of the month but the problem can occur
at any time during the month. The only field is the date. There are no user
macros.

When I scroll through the document (using the mouse wheel) it often picks up an
image of the format tool bar (top image in attachment) or sometimes an image of
another part of the document (bottom image in attachment). I can get rid of
the effect by scrolling again (but if I scroll again it will reappear)

What I have just discovered in analysing the behaviour for this report is that
this only occurs with the mouse wheel (the mouse is a logitech RX 650) and not
with the scroll bar on the side of the screen.

Scrolling with this mouse wheel in Calc doesn't cause this problem and neither
does scrolling on web pages.

Maybe someone can reproduce this behaviour but maybe no one can.
It sounds like a graphic update problem that depends on your special system
configuration (CPU power, graphic card, background processes, …)

Maybe you can resolve the problem by trying another driver for the graphic
card.

But also you can simply press [Ctrl]+[Shift]+[R]. This will refresh the graphic
display.

The document that has interference from tool bar image

Hi Edwin

As it's a personal diary I've deleted the text sections but left the formatted
entries. The last page has the template which I just copy / paste and fix the
dat. It also carries a notional task list which mainly grows rather than being
complted which has been there for some time.

I've confimed that the deletions haven't affected the behaviour.

Hi Edwin and thanks for testing my document. I noticed you use Linux whereas
my problem had occurred in Windows 7. So I spent a lot of yesterday creating a
Linux environment (in an Oracle Virtual Machine) and imported my document, in
case it was OS specific.

I don't have the problem I previously reported but a bizarre new one (in
Linux). When I scroll it changes from a 32 page to a 43 page document (with no
change in file size) and the additional pages are filled with the text portion
of the 32 pps but with the page breaks removed. This is not a video refresh
issue as it started up with the same corruption this morning after an overnight
shutdown.

So I'm still no clearer on the cause:
- a document corruption should reproduce on your system
- an OO bug should reproduce on your system unless there are OO refresh
commands that clash with my system?
- a graphics refresh bug wouldn't have stored the problem overnight

The OO version I installed in Linux is AOO400m3(Build:9702) - Rev. 1503704
2013-07-16 14:49:37 (Tue, 16 Jul 2013) - Linux x86_64. The Windows version is

--- Comment #3 from Peter Smith <re...@yahoo.co.uk> ---
Thanks for the thoughts:
1. I've just installed OO 4.1 and the problem has persisted
2. [Ctrl]+[Shift]+[R] does refresh and get rid of the interference until I
scroll again when it recurs.
3. I suspect the hardware isn't the issue as I don't have the problem in other
applications (including Open Office Calc). Also this is a brand new PC and I
had the problem on the previous pc. The graphics driver is integrated Intel
4600
4. I haven't seen this behaviour with other documents

So if you're confident it's not a problem with Write there must be problem with
the document (which was created in Write). I'll try cleaning it up by opening
and saving in Notepad then opening and reformating in Write.

Thanks again
