In some cases, the Kudu Java API docs are not complete and lack important details. For example, in http://kudu.apache.org/apidocs/org/apache/kudu/Schema.html#getColumn(java.lang.String), it's not documented what will happen if the specified parameter does not correspond to an existing column. Will the function throw an exception or does it return null?
