[VOTE] Cleaning the build.xml file
I'm currently cleaning up the build file and would like to have approval
over the following propositions.
[ ] the scratchpad project has it's own build.xml file (removing some
normally unused targets)
[ ] definition of the (now standard) targets:
init
build
release (creation of the jars and wars)
clean
these targets will call other subtargets.
e.g. build calls src-build, test-build and example-build
clean calls src-clean, test-clean and example-clean
By calling one target to build everything (build), we are sure
that everything compiles. And it is still possible to call the
separate build/release/clean subtargets individually.
[ ] introduction of the build directory that contains all the generated
files (except the jars and wars placed in the dist directory).
e.g. it will contain
classes
test-classes
example-classes
doc
doc/api
The goal is to keep the tree as clean as possible. If something
goes wrong, you only have to remove one directory.
[ ] build.properties contains properties that overwrite those defined
in build.xml. E.g tomcat.home can be define in the property file
if the TOMCAT_HOME can't be used (like you have two installation of
Tomcat, one for the Xindice tests and the other one for you
website)
[ ] moving the creation of the distribution files (*.zip and *.tar.gz)
into the contributor.xml file.
Thanks for your answer
