We have a J2EE application deployed on NetWeaver. As part of our application we use Axis 1.2.1. The application server is installed on a 64 bit Windows system. For NetWeaver Sun provides a specific 64 bit JVM, which is available at http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/SAPsite/download.html
When running the application with this version of Java the JVM crashes at
Current CompileTask:
opto:4397 ! org.apache.axis.message.MessageElement.addTextNode(Ljava/lang/String;)Ljavax/xml/soap/SOAPElement; (49 bytes)
The Java dump logs show this error along with other information. The dump file is attached with this issue. We had even observed this issue with Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (1.4.2_13-b06 mixed mode). Upgrading to this latest version of Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (1.4.2_16-b05 mixed mode) does not solve this issue.
Is this something that Axis needs to fix or is it a Sun JDK issue (in which case i will report this there)?

Yes, we fixed that by placing a ".hotspot_compiler" file into the working directory with the following content:
