Hibernate 6 and OSGi / Karaf
Hi,
We are currently building applications based on OSGi / Karaf and cannot start new developments on Hibernate 5 anymore: it is in "limited support mode" (https://hibernate.org/orm/releases/5.6/) and probably end of life soon.
Therefore, I wonder if there is a Karaf feature for Hibernate 6? I only know about the Karaf Enterprise feature which supports Hibernate 5 (https://github.com/apache/karaf/blob/main/assemblies/features/enterprise/src/main/feature/feature.xml).

Hi JB,
Thanks for update. It would be great to know whether there is a chance/plan to support Hibernate 6 in Apache Karaf. When I checked the Hibernate jar files I found out that the OSGi manifest looks weird (Export-Package: [Ljava.lang.String;@4b0583ef). I tried to use wrap:mvn: it did not work. But I did not spend much time on that.

4.4.9 will happen pretty soon as we found a couple of improvements to include. Now that Karaf 4.4.x better supports JDK 17+, let me check about Hibernate update. I will probably have to wrap artifacts.
About Karaf 4.5.0, it's more for next month.

I found a Jira related to the Hibernate upgrade in Apache Karaf: https://issues.apache.org/jira/projects/KARAF/issues/KARAF-7878. It says that the target version is 4.4.9 and 4.5.0. Is there any information about the upcoming releases of Apache Karaf? I've read about Karaf 4.5.0 in a thread dated in June 2024.
