some problems with the binary distros....

1) svn_load_dirs.pl does not appear to be included in the windows
binary client distributions. (It might not be in other distros
either -- I haven't checked.) Since the book references this as a
critical tool for dealing with vendor branches, it would be nice to
ship it with the distribution. (It might be in the server distro,
but as the users are maintaining vendor branches...)
2) The Red Hat 7.0 distribution dir pointed to off the web page (i.e
   http://summersoft.fay.ar.us/pub/subversion/latest/redhat-7.x/bin/)
does not include db 4.2 -- it includes an older version, and that
might be a problem according to recent postings here. (If anyone
can point me at a db 4.2 RPM for Red Hat 7 so that I can replace it
on my servers before I get any sort of corruption I'd appreciate
   it. :)

No. you're not in danger. The problem only relates to version 4.1.25.

HTH,

Erik.

The problem is that I can't find any RPMs for the latest for
Red Hat 7, which is being used on the server at the moment. The
Subversion binaries pointed to off of
http://subversion.tigris.org/project_packages.html
include the older BDB, as I noted in my earlier mail, which is why
installed it that way. :(

If anyone knows where I can get similarly configured RPMs of the later
BDB, I'd appreciate it. (Of course, will the binaries I got even work
with the newer BDB? I'll probably need to recompile them, which is
what something I'd rather avoid... sigh...)

Someone should make sure the "official" binaries released with 1.0 for
each platform include the latest BDB.

You're in danger of annoying space-eating (due to BDB log files). We
have a vague fuzzy feeling that >=4.2.50 is more stable, less likely
to require 'svnadmin recover', etc, but I don't have numbers to back
that up, just anecdotal evidence.

Go with the latest BDB, you'll be glad :-).

Okay, failing an answer on that, can someone tell me if I'm in danger
running in production with db4-4.0.14-0.4, because that's what I
picked up from that page...
