the maps all come back empty:
select * from `complex.parquet` order by amount;
trans_id date time amount user_info marketing_info trans_info
2 2013-06-09 15:31:45 20.25 {} {} {}
4 2013-07-21 08:01:13 34.2 {} {} {}
0 2013-07-26 04:56:59 80.5 {} {} {}
