[jira] [Commented] (OPTIQ-336) First Apache release

    [ https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/OPTIQ-336?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=14053214#comment-14053214 ]

Julian Hyde commented on OPTIQ-336:
-----------------------------------

For this release, I do not intend to re-organize packages into the org.apache.optiq namespace [OPTIQ-296], nor to include code from the linq4j and optiq-csv projects. Those are disruptive changes, and would prevent the dual stable/master branch strategy proposed above.

> We released optiq-0.8 on 2014-06-27 and we intend that to be the last non-Apache release. I propose that the next release be optiq-0.9, and be made under the [Apache process|http://incubator.apache.org/guides/releasemanagement.html].
> There is a lot to do.
> I anticipate that the release will take a few weeks, and I do not want to block feature development. I propose that we create a "stable" branch and develop the release on it. Feature development can continue on the "master" branch. The "stable" branch can be deleted after the release is complete.
> We may (or may not) decide to rebase from "master" to "stable" when the release is ready to ship. (Even though that makes it impossible for others to merge that branch.)
