Tomcat Config/URL
Hi!
I'm in the process of converting ugly old perl web pages into servlets.
The only thing stopping me from starting to deploy some of this stuff is
figuring out what to do with URLs.
Currently my servlets are accessed at a URL like
http://foo.com/java/servlet/FooBar
This is too long for my liking. I've tried quite a bit of hacking of the
config files to change this but everything I do seems to just break it.
No luck.
At the moment I've got perl at urls like...
http://foo.com/foobar.pl
I would like to convert it to servlets like...
http://foo.com/foobar
or some such without breaking the existing perl so I can have a staged
change over. It would be a nice bonus if I could make the existing .pl
URLs point to servlets as and when they are re-written to preserve
links.
Any advice on how to configure tomcat?
Chris Bitmead.

If you are using Apache you can do this in the apache config by
configuring an Alias to map your perl script paths to the
servlet paths to transition the application to servlets. Or if
that is too arduos, mod_rewrite could handle programmatically
remapping perl scripts to servlet paths.
