This is apparently a cherry-pick of commit 990212 that was made in the
Temp_TrueTypeInPostScript branch. It would be good to indicate that in
the log message and to link to the original commit, in order to put the
change in context. Same for the other commits that were cherry-picked.

That said, why cherry-pick those commits? Why not simply merge trunk
to the branch?
