   **Describe the bug**
   [A clear and concise description of what the bug is.](https://github.com/apache/uima-uimaj/issues/235) suggested to change an error message. However, now this error message is shown even if the type is not registered in the type system but only used in Java. The exact circumstances of the message need to be investigated again.
   
   **Expected behavior**
   The message should helpfully inform the user about the state of affairs.
   
   **Please complete the following information:**
    - Version: 3.3.1
