[CANCELED][VOTE] Apache Rave 0.17 Release Candidate

Posted by Ate Douma <at...@douma.nu>.
I'm canceling the VOTE for the Apache Rave 0.17 Release Candidate because of
several reported issues, latest issue RAVE-845 in particular.

The temporary staging repository and candidate demo artifacts will be removed.

Re: [DISCUSS] Apache Rave 0.17 Release Candidate

Posted by Ate Douma <at...@douma.nu>.
Confirmed. I just tried this with a mysql database and hit the same error.

As Chris mentioned on his rely, most likely the referential integrity no longer
is 'managed' through JPA after the model split. Which means this might not be
the only case behavior is broken.

I am now strongly inclined to cancel the 0.17 release as these issues are not
trivial anymore. Anyone feeling strongly *not* to cancel please say so, and why,
else I'll cancel this release later this today.

Thanks, Ate

I confirmed that I was working with a clean database and dug a little
deeper to find that it only occurs when you are deleting a user that has
one or more associations. The exact exception is as follows:

Referential integrity constraint violation: "CONSTRAINT_43:
PUBLIC.PERSON_ASSOCIATION FOREIGN KEY(FOLLOWEDBY_ID) REFERENCES
PUBLIC.PERSON(ENTITY_ID) (3)"; SQL statement:
DELETE FROM person WHERE entity_id = ? [23503-167] {prepstmnt 1230081703
DELETE FROM person WHERE entity_id = ? [params=?]} [code=23503,
state=23503]

I ran through the builds and the integration tests. I encountered no
problems, except the New York Times gadget isn't working. Tested the
build on my mac desktop with the h2 db and Java 1.6. I'll vote +1.

The integration tests do test the delete user test and it just passed for
me just fine. I will test further with the demo binaries.

Using default H2 db & demo (zip) binary. Logged in as canonical -
deleted one.col & four.col accounts fine. Stopped & restarted (after
deleting existing DB in tmp)
Created a new account fred.bloggs. Logged in as canonical again, was
able to delete that account. Also deleted fourwn.col account.

No errors reported in the console.

Re: [DISCUSS] Apache Rave 0.17 Release Candidate

I just tried myself running against mysql (not H2 as in your case) and don't
have that problem. If it is indeed a H2 specific problem, it might qualify as a
blocker...

(note: I changed the subject to [DISCUSS])

Re: [VOTE] Apache Rave 0.17 Release Candidate

I went through the release and everything looks good except that I can't
seem to delete users. I get the following exception with the demo binary
as well as the built source:

[WARNING] [talledLocalContainer] SEVERE: Servlet.service() for servlet
dispatcher threw exception
[WARNING] [talledLocalContainer]
org.apache.rave.persistence.impl.TranslatedH2Exception: Unknown Database
Error
[WARNING] [talledLocalContainer] at
org.apache.rave.persistence.jpa.impl.H2OpenJpaDialect.translateExceptionIfP
ossible(H2OpenJpaDialect.java:60)
[WARNING] [talledLocalContainer] at
org.springframework.orm.jpa.JpaTransactionManager.doCommit(JpaTransactionMa
nager.java:516)
[WARNING] [talledLocalContainer] at
org.springframework.transaction.support.AbstractPlatformTransactionManager.
processCommit(AbstractPlatformTransactionManager.java:754)
[WARNING] [talledLocalContainer] at
org.springframework.transaction.support.AbstractPlatformTransactionManager.
commit(AbstractPlatformTransactionManager.java:723)

I have not debugged the issue yet.
