ftp retrieval on complex schedule?

I have a requirement to retrieve files from an ftp site on a complex
schedule.

I can use quartz to establish the complex schedule, however I don't find a
component that allows for retrieval of files over (s)ftp just once. The smix
3.0 ftp component (and the new ftp component for 3.1) only seem to allow for
a polling interval, a polling interval that can't be turned off it seems.

Can this be done at all with the existing 'out-of-the-box' compenents, or do
I need to create a new component to allow for this?

I'm using 3.0-incubating (release), which doesn't have the ftp component.
I'll likely create a component on 3.0 based on VFS. When/if we move to 3.1
an additional endpoint in the ftp component is likely the way to go.

Active polling has not been implemented yet, but it should
be easy to write another type of endpoint for the ftp component
which would accept an InOut exchange and poll the ftp
server.  Feel free to provide a patch if you work on it so that
we can include it.
