[discuss] considering add two mailing list party and business/usecase

Hi,

As there are more and more users using IoTDB and companies joining to
release their IoTDB edition, I think we may need to provide more places for
discussion.

- Party@iotdb.apache.org:
This idea is derived from party@apache.org.
As said by Rich Bowen, the purpose is to say things like "I'll be in Berlin
in March and want to have a beer with old and new friends."

We'd like to welcome all IoTDBers to have parties in different cities. If
someone wants to find friends in any place in the world, just sends a
message to party@apache.org

(For example, we get sponsorship from Timecho Ltd. to host a party in
Beijing tonight and welcome all IoTDBers to join us, but there is no a
suitable way to share the message.)

- business@iotdb.apache.org or usecase@iotdb.apache.org
This idea is derived from the situations that there are more and more users
using IoTDB to serve applications or release TSDB based on IoTDB.
I discussed with some of them and hope they to share their user stories and
IoTDB derivative back to the community, maybe an individual mailing list
is more attractive for them as all Interested persons can pay attention
about that.

how do you think?

Hi, I bring this discussion back..
So how about creating a party@iotdb.apache.org first?
Then users can call a party for IoTDB users on the mailing list, and call a
party for cross-projects people on the party@apache.org.

As for users@ or usecase@, let's discuss about it after there mare more
traffic on dev@ mailing list.

Hi,

Considering ASF is a non-profit organization, userstories@, usecase@ or
users@ is better than business@ for ASF.

Among the three candidate, I like userstories@ and usecase@ more than user@,
as I think user@ looks like ask questions,
but we want to find a place to collect users' real applications and release
editions description.

As for the party@a.o, yes it maybe also a choice,
I just worry about some shy guys may feel stress to send mails to @a.o.
@iotdb.a.o will be more comfortable for those guys..
But we can of course send emails to party@a.o.

Hi Willem,

A big +1 to that ... it's always good to be in-line with the typical standards.
Regarding "users" there seems to be a general mixture of "user" and "users" being used for that case, but I think any of the two is a better choice than "business".

Hi all,

Why not just use the regular party@ list? Or is it intentional to just meet with iotdb folks? Apache is more than just one project and there are lots of great people you could meet.

And with "business" I'd use a different name. "userstories" or something else. Apache is a non profit charity. Actually "business" doesn't fit in that case.

>
>
>

>
>
>
>
