I was able to reproduce this with a basic text document.

I agree with comments 7 and 8.  "Undo" should restore you to the status you
were in before the action occurred AND the feature ("Undo") should behave
consistently throughout the applications in the suite.

Restoring the text with it all highlighted makes it very easy to delete it all
by mistake.
