OPen function will not work from main dialog

OK i reinstalled my JRE as I found it needed 1.4.0.  I was then able to bring 
up the JMeter GUI.  THen, when I select "Open" I get an exception.

THis should bring up an OPen dialog shouldn't it.  I have tried rebooting my 
system several times but nothing makes it work.
