Looking for help to maintain/improve the graphics of Freemarker
The Freemarker project is looking for some help to improve or change some
of its graphic elements e.g. a higher resolution logo for Twitter, some
design work to include the Apache Incubator "egg" and the beloved Apache
"feather" etc...

Thanks for the offer!
The Twitter "logo" (the "<F>" at https://twitter.com/freemarker) was
made ad-hoc as the small icon shown next to each tweet. Then one day
Twitter introduced that 200x200 image and automatically used that
small and JPEG-compressed icon scaled up... Anyway, yes, it can be
reimagined. We don't really have a logo, unless we count the homepage
favico as such (it's a blue "<#>"; maybe a good start).
As of the eggs Jacopo refers to, the Incubator PMC would prefer if we
show an Incubator logo somewhere on the pages of
https://freemarker.org. (The API docs and Manual can be excluded from
that.) Preferably on a place that you see without scrolling down.
As of the missing header image on https://twitter.com/freemarker (it's
currently just solid blue), that's not a priority. But anyway, as we
are incubating, I wouldn't dare to use the usual Apache header
graphics. Unless we add the eggs with the incubation disclaimer to
it... (-:

It's not major but this looks a bit blurry so it might be good if we
improve the quality of it,
Feedback from Daniel:
A bit? A higher resolution logo is definitely needed. Someone wants to
throw it together? It can say <#> (like our favico on freemarker.org)
or <#fm> or <#f> or anything more imaginative.
As regards the Freemarker logo: Daniel or others may want to provide some
ideas.

They are displayed fine technically, I meant the visual impression.

I don't know how you see it. If you are using google preview, it could
be blured. I suggest you to use Inkscape instead, to have the best
visual quality.

Ok, no problem. Like the egg, I had it in my mind so I had to draw it ^^

Anyway, I see you have a CLA at Apache, so I think there's no obstacle
in using, let's say, <F> with the drop shadow on Twitter. Right?
As of the file icon, the 1st or the last, though icons used to be 16
px high, which looks entirely different. But AFAIK we have no place to
use a file type icon currently.

I'm agree that the <F> is visually better and better for understanding
as well.
For the egg, I wanted to make it ^^ But you're right, project use this

Apache does have one or a few official Incubator logos. I suppose we
must use one of those, or at least we shouldn't change it much. The
goal is simply that we insert the official incubator logo somewhere on
http://freemarker.org/, with damaging the functionality and look as
little as possible. (It shouldn't be reasonably noticable without
scrolling.)
As of the "<#>", a bit less nice, but makes more sense semantically...
I think that's a good compromise (for a Twitter logo). Perhaps the
shape of the # and spacing around in could be tweaked to look better,
but I don't know.

I have done a little job to create the tiny logo for Freemarker.
