Limitation of reattempts for reliable messaging

Hello CXF-Users,
I'm using the reliable messaging feature for CXF 2.1.2 to retransmit failed messages. Unfortunately, no upper bound can be easily configured for these retransmission attempts. What would be the most efficient way to implement such a feature?
