Re: Jetspeed Development?

OK, I confess we have been hiding in the weeds. ;-)

We have been using Jetspeed to provide an Intranet portal and have been
involved for over one year. This originally started as a
"proof-of-concept", but the end users loved it so much it snowballed into a
"real" production delivery. When we started we didn't feel knowledgeable
enough to contribute, but now are actively contributing via Mark Orciuch.

Unfortunately, we have yet to get permission to name the client or provide
samples. Suffice it to say it is a Fortune 1000 company.

Based on access logs, we have 410 current users with the potential to
increase to a couple thousand. We are using Oracle as the PSML and profile
database.

We have load tested the portal successfully on 1 node, with 50 concurrent
users on a pretty slim machine. 2-800mhz processors, with 1GIG Ram. - Win2K
and WebSphere 3.5.6. We are in the process of upgrading hardware, plus we
still have too much debugging logic going in our production environment. In
addition, some of our portal content is "heavy". We are trying to eliminate
the proverbial "spreadsheet-mart".

Originally, we were using JSP exclusively, but have migrated to Velocity.
Although we still integrate many existing JSP-based applications.

Our we happy? You bet.

Is our client happy? Yes. However, they are nervous about the use of open
source solutions. It has been an educational process on our part.

I hope to provide much more details in the near future.
