SMTP authorizing

Im looking into if I can use the SMTP client to send mail,
and have one question.

Most SMTP servers require that the user/client is authorized
before it can send a message. Can this be done with
the SMTP client?

Or can I do it by sending any SMTP command using the client?

Or is there another SMTP client out there that can?

Thanx
Erik

Commons-mail can handle this.
