Maven SCM, as a tool, should not need to now anything about Maven
specifically. The bridge should be created in Maven in order to pull
user specific information and feed it into Maven SCM.

People develop abstractions by generalizing from concrete examples.
Every attempt to determine the correct abstraction on paper without
actually developing a running system is doomed to failure. No one
is that smart. A framework is a resuable design, so you develop it by
looking at the things it is supposed to be a design of. The more examples
you look at, the more general your framework will be.

Sorry, I didn't see what you posted there. The plugin is the bridge
which is fine.

I thought maven-scm-plugin already bound to maven, would it make sense to
talk to
maven to pickup user's private info?
I think this pattern is usable future mojo that may need remote
authentication.
and the capility to store user info in one place (settings.xml) is
important.
