IRC plugin for Hudson

Hi guys,

I logged a wish on Jira a month ago to install an IRC plugin on Hudson:
https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/INFRA-2792

Is this a bad idea ? I would be happy to help installing it, it's been a
very safe installation for my company so I can help if there are questions.

Thanks,

Antoine

We are hitting http://issues.hudson-ci.org/browse/HUDSON-6629
which in turn depends on https://akuma.dev.java.net/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=2

<https://akuma.dev.java.net/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=2>None of those bugs are
fixed so for now self-restart is not going to work.

Thanks,

Antoine

Now restarting. Let's see if this fixes the installation. If not,
let's hold until we get the new master in place.

I tried setting up IRC today:
1. It looks like the IRC plugin was not installed. I tried installing it
again. It needs a restart now.
2. There are no builds running so I tried /safeRestart, and I got a 500
page:
http://gist.github.com/489808

I can ask on #hudson if this is a known bug.

Yes, I gave it a try, but there is a ping build that was stuck on a hadoop
node, and it ended up creating delays.

You all do know about /safeExit & /safeRestart, right? Or Prepare for Shutdown? You can wait for currently running builds to finish while forbidding new builds to start,
and you can ask Hudson to automatically shut down once that happens, or even restart itself so you do not need to wait around.

It looks like the load is much lighter now - can we try restarting now ?
Otherwise this weekend I guess.

I don't find it a bad idea. The only reason for me not getting around
to it is that I'm occupied on getting the new Hudson master up and
running.

Now installed, will be active after the next Hudson restart. Lots of
builds right now, so I'll hold restarting.
