This sequence of commands will break the console:

graph = TinkerGraph.open();
mum = graph.addVertex(T.label, "person", T.id, 1, "name", "mum")
g = graph.traversal(standard())
g.V.has('name','mum) <<<<<< SINGLE QUOTE MISSING. THIS WILL BREAK THE CONSOLE. NEXT THING YOU TRY TO DO:

gremlin> g.V
groovysh_parse: 2: expecting ''', found '\n' @ line 2, column 21.
   g.V.has('name','mum)
                       ^
