Node.getTextContent()  returns bogus results

           Summary: Node.getTextContent()  returns bogus results
           Product: Xerces2-J
           Version: 2.0.0 [beta 4]
          Platform: PC
        OS/Version: Windows NT/2K
            Status: NEW
          Severity: Normal
          Priority: Other
         Component: DOM
        AssignedTo: xerces-j-dev@xml.apache.org
        ReportedBy: wes.tutak@gefedmonton.ge.com

Using the DOMParser to parse the included XML the String returned by
Node.getTextContent() appears as "\n        foo\n    \0\0\0...\0"

Explicity calling Node.getNodeValue() on the <text> node's TEXT_NODE
similiarily misbehaves.

<?xml version="1.0"?>

<text>foo</text>
