[jira] Commented: (SOLR-1316) Create autosuggest component
[ https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/SOLR-1316?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=12917262#action_12917262 ]
Yonik Seeley commented on SOLR-1316:
------------------------------------
Thanks for the docs Andrzej! I was able to get it working using the configuration on that wiki page, after
changing threshold to a float:
<float name="threshold">0.005</float>
and changing the "field" to something in the example data:
<str name="field">name</str>
Autosuggest is a desirable enough feature for people that we should consider adding some config for it to the example schema,
and adding a "QuickStart" to the wiki page so that people can immediately be successful with it.
Random Q: do we have a capability that can mimic google's suggest yet (i.e. both single and multi-word suggestions at the same time)? I assume that maybe adding a field-type that shingles may be enough? If so, we should add that to the example server (hopefully on some field that won't negatively impact performance).

> Autosuggest is a common search function that can be integrated
> into Solr as a SearchComponent. Our first implementation will
> use the TernaryTree found in Lucene contrib.
> * Enable creation of the dictionary from the index or via Solr's
> RPC mechanism
> * What types of parameters and settings are desirable?
> * Hopefully in the future we can include user click through
> rates to boost those terms/phrases higher
