[jira] Commented: (GERONIMO-2552) Remove SVG usage from Admin
Console

Uncle Johns Band commented on GERONIMO-2552:
--------------------------------------------
I don't see any recent activity on this item. I tried accessing the Chart demo and am presented with the Message in IE (seems to work fine in FireFox) that the component is unable to load the Adobe SVGN plug-in. You are provided the link to the plug-in to download.
When you get to the Adobe site it is apparent that they will no longer be supporting this as of 1/1/2008.
We need to remove the requirement for the SVG plug-in when using components such as the Chart component so that there is cross-browser support without the need of a 3rd party plug-in.
1/1/2008 will be here very quickly and this issue only has a low priority. I would think that this issue should be elevated to be addressed and corrected sooner rather than later.
No one wants to use components that require a non-supported 3rd party plug-in to work.

> Adobe is ending support for their SVG Viewer for Windows on January 1, 2008 and it is not supported in Windows Vista -
> http://www.adobe.com/svg/pdfs/ASV_EOL_FAQ.pdf
> Looking over the following site -
> http://wiki.svg.org/Viewer_Implementations
> there doesn't seem to be any free SVG Viewers available for Windows anymore.
> Requiring Firefox or Opera browsers should not be an option.
