Yea, HDP' isn't Apache Hive Metastore 3.0.0. There's misunderstanding here. I don't block this PR too but we should make sure it's used at users' own risk because currently no one uses Apache Hive 3.0 with Spark within my visibility and bugs are expected.
It's just like we don't (arguably) use Hadoop 2.9 or Hadoop 3 often.
