content migration with the exorcist

this might be interesting once we are further along with our jcr
efforts. ideally, we would write an import / export plugin for this.

I think JSR-170, the Java Content Repository API has great potential
for making tools that can interoperate between different CMSs. One
such is the Exorcist concept of migrating data from other systems into
a JCR-compatible CMS:

Of course! There's a CMS shakedown going on in Finland and having a good
migration tool is a big plus in winning new customers. :-)

Sounds fine. I'll see if I can prototype the idea later on.

Yes. My current prototype code is in my private source repository, but
I'll make it public next week once I return home from Madrid.

that would be nice

I guess Henri would like to get the content of the proprietary CMSs
imported into Midgard ;-)

well, we could start exchanging content between Midgard and Lenya. As
prototype
we could use the OSCOM website (http://www.oscom.org)

Will the Exorcist be Open Source as well?

Thanks

Michi

Hi all,

[First introducing myself:]
I'm a semi-active Jackrabbit committer and currently working on the
Midgard-JCR adapter and the Exorcist concept mentioned in the message
forwarded by Gregor. I've been lurking on the lenya-dev list for a while
after Michi pointed me to Lenya in a discussion on the jacrabbit-dev
mailing list. I'm thinking about experimenting with Lenya-on-JCR as a
platform for a custom wiki/weblog tool, but have so far had little time
to focus on this.

I'd be very much willing to co-operate with you on this one. I'm
currently getting funded to develop the Exorcist concept for Midgard and
a few proprietary CMSs, and Lenya support would be a big plus.

Note however that the Exorcist concept is still in an early alpha state.
I have some early prototype code and expect to do my first commercial
project using the prototype on next week.
