It is difficult to appreciate the usecase for this feature request. What is it
that requires a build to have this feature?

Since this could easily be accomplished with a FilterReader, but hasn't been in
the 10 years that this bug request has been opened, I am going to close it as a
WONTFIX. If someone wants to submit a patch to provide the functionality along
with a reason it is useful to include in Ant, please feel free to reopen.
