Update, I've sent Rob Weir a zip with the experiment pages. I'll need to
touch base with Rob in a few business days.
When its set up we can place friendly bets on what we think will win.
There are 4 experiments, here they are merged together in a single screen
capture:
* Note this is screen cap from a working copy on my desktop,
icons/background images are not displayed. Hosted copies might look a
little different.

I think #1 will win. Which ever one between 2 & 3 gets more, we might
integrate into the site's template for the rest of the website.

These links will open a new tab/window of the social profile, if they are
logged in, it will let them follow or like us using the native platform's
UI. These static links have the least privacy concern. It does not
contact the social platform until after the user clicks and is redirected
to it.

The content experiment is now integrated into the website. 10% of
visitors to the homepage will be sent to one of the four page
variations and we'll see after two week which variation leads to the
most social follows. Then we can propose it (or a variation on it) to
be the default version.

All great feedback.
1. The logo can be replaced with an RSS logo (might have to create one,
easy). This will also make the icons the same size. Thanks for the help.
2. Agree breadcrumbs can become large, I would propose this for now as an
experiment and see if it wins before we discount it. If it wins, its
definitely in a spot we want to consider, we might just have to alter the
topnav bar in the template. Template integration will be separate. The
home page is a special place because how much traffic it gets.
Because a design wins and experiment we don't necessarily have to go with
it. We can run a second tier experiment with variations (text, no text,
below the bar, above the bar but below the search).
