Protocol Abstraction

I too would like to know more about the protocol abstraction plans.
I've been working
linking an implementation of PCT (Private Communication Technology
Protocol) into
apache (a-la the ApacheSSL implementation), and I've had to do a bit of
protocol
abstraction code myself. If anyone has done any real work on this yet,
or has any thoughs,
well, I'm all ears. Any progress been made on this that I might not know of?

I'm interested in a roll call, too. This would seem to be something
which should be done SOONER, rather than later. I remember the following
people expressing interest in such an endeavor:
cliff@organic.com ses@eit.com ben@algroup.co.uk Andrew.Wilson@cm.cf.ac.uk
geoffw@eit.com sameer@c2.org a-petesk@microsoft.com
paul@ns0.netcraft.co.uk
Am I missing anyone?
The relevant work which has been done is the Apache-SSL work, Geoff's
SHTTP work, and pete's PCT work. I seem to remember Ben saying he might
have a proposal ready to make soon... anyone else?
