>                 Key: HIVE-3960
>                 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/HIVE-3960
>             Project: Hive
>          Issue Type: Bug
>          Components: CLI
>    Affects Versions: 0.8.0
>         Environment: EC2 Amazon AMI 64-bit
>            Reporter: Alex Breshears
>            Priority: Minor
>
> There seems to be an issue with column names of "data".
> I was able to create a table with a column name of "data" via Sqoop but discovered this problem when trying to query the table in the CLI. Any refrence to a column name of "data" throws an error - even when fully qualifying it in a SELECT.
> See below.
> hive> create table test (id int, data string);
> FAILED: Parse Error: line 1:27 mismatched input 'data' expecting Identifier near ',' in column specification
> hive> create table test (id int, st string);
> OK
> Time taken: 5.778 seconds
