[users@httpd] Handling asynchronous communcation by peers through mod_proxy

Hi group!

I'm interested in the possibilty of getting peers
apache web servers to communication asynchronously
through mod_proxy. One of the servers is on the
internet while the other is behind a Proxy only
server. The client will send data and expect heat
beats from the server.

Can this be done with mod_proxy by way of HTTP only?
Are there known ways of doing this? documentation?

Thanks in advance!
cheers!
