This was discussed on the [mailing list|https://lists.apache.org/thread.html/420bd7b5b4a4bad62bf7d874c998c99204e1633a7d0cf47c00541c61@%3Cdev.arrow.apache.org%3E] and it makes sense for the SO versions to match up for arrow and parquet until an independent parquet C++ release is prepared.
