New Contributer to OpenOffice

Hello,

I'm a software developer with some professional experience writing in C++. I'm deeply interested in open source software and would like to contribute. How can I contribute?

Thank you,K

Hi  Kelly,

Welcome to OpenOffice. Please see below what Keith wrote.

The easiest way to push your contribution to us is through a github pull
request [1].

If you need a starting point what to fix, start with the list at [2]

I agree with Keith. Learn on building OpenOffice. Then you can try to
look into. Since AOO is mature code, dont be shocked. Ask Questions if
you need pointers on dev.

We try to help

All the best

Peter

Keith,

Thank you.

I'll get myself subscribed to the correct mailing list tonight and will work on getting Open Office built! I usually prefer to build and develop on Linux but I'm currently using Windows so I may take some time to play around with things.

Thanks again,
Kelly

Greetings Kelly and welcome to Apache OpenOffice (AOO;

First you should subscribe to this mailing list. To subscribe send an
e-mail to dev-subscribe@openoffice.apache.org, You will receive a reply
which may end up in your spam folder so be sure to check there.
Click reply and you will receive a reply that you are subscribed.

This mailing list is the main communication medium for the project. One
of the mainstays of the Apache Software Foundation (ASF) is that if it
didn't happen on the list it didn't happen.

Since the code base is large and complex, we usually suggest that the
first thing a new developer try is setting up their environment and
making a first build. A complete build guide is available at
https://wiki.openoffice.org/wiki/Documentation/Building_Guide_AOO.

If you have any questions or problems bring them this list and our
development team will will help you sort them out.

Again, welcome to AOO and thank you for your interest in helping to
improve the software.

Regards
Keith
