problem installing sample application

hi,

I can't install the sample application coming with the tdk. I'm running ant
on the generated build.xml. It creates and fills the database but fails on
compiling the class files. I'm using windows 2k. here is what ant says:

compile:
    [javac] Modern compiler is not available - using classic compiler
    [javac] Compiling 25 source files to
E:\Code\Java\tdk\webapps\newapp\WEB-INF
\classes

BUILD FAILED

E:\Code\Java\tdk\webapps\newapp\WEB-INF\build\build.xml:418: Cannot use
classic
compiler, as it is not available A common solution is to set the environment
var
iable JAVA_HOME to your jdk directory.

i set JAVA_HOME to my jdk dir (1.3). i also have my bin dir in my path. so
running javac form any path works well.

can you help?
