Thanks, yout gratitude is truly appreciated. As for using SCP. I have been using it for years with SF.net, so I know that it works. Have a look at my personal project POMs:

The protocol must be {{scpexe}} since this is used to lookup the protocol: https://github.com/mojohaus/wagon-maven-plugin/blob/264cdbd6e062656afcb368e4e1b84ff6a5db6be6/src/main/java/org/codehaus/mojo/wagon/shared/DefaultWagonFactory.java#L123-L140
