[Bug 3600] New: - /etc/rc.d scripts of the rpm

http://nagoya.apache.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=3600

Summary: /etc/rc.d scripts of the rpm
           Product: Tomcat 3
           Version: 3.3 Beta 2
          Platform: PC
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: NEW
          Severity: Enhancement
          Priority: Other
         Component: Unknown
        AssignedTo: tomcat-dev@jakarta.apache.org
        ReportedBy: nicolas.mailhot@one2team.com

Hi,

Would it be possible to abstract the configuration part of the /etc/rc.d scripts
in an /etc/tomcat.conf file and mark only this file as a configuration file in
the rpm ? Most /etc/rc.d scripts I know use this approach.

A lot of people have to customize JAVA_HOME but have to wish to change the
scripts themselves, nor have an old version lie on their disks when they upgrade
tomcat because it has been marked as config

Thanks,
