   The last snippet you have does not actually use Iceberg. Instead, it uses the default data source in Spark.

   [The user docs](https://iceberg.apache.org/spark/) contain a few examples on how to use Iceberg with Spark 2.4. First of all, you need to decide whether you will be using `HadoopTables` or `HiveCatalog` in Iceberg based on the underlying storage. Depending on that, you should use one of the two examples below.

   ```
   // if you created your table via HiveCatalog
   spark.read.format("iceberg").load("db.table")
   // if you created your table via HadoopTables
   spark.read.format("iceberg").load("hdfs://nn:8020/path/to/table")
   ```
