[jira] Commented: (LUCENE-1621) deprecate term and getTerm in MultiTermQuery

Mark Harwood commented on LUCENE-1621:
--------------------------------------

While we're poking around in this area I'd like to point out the long-standing open issue in LUCENE-329.

Matching "Smyth" over "Smith" when doing a search for "Smith~" is just plain broken but this is what I see all the time with FuzzyQuery and it's default approach to IDF. I think we need to take the sort of logic in contrib's FuzzyLikeThisQuery to address this.

> This means moving getTerm and term up to sub classes as appropriate and reimplementing equals, hashcode as appropriate in sub classes.
