+1 from a noncommitter for an out of the box distribution.
But I would prefer Jetty to Tomcat.

right, we actually just have to give people a "pointer" how to start jetty

Well, at the moment the snapshots are served from the Wyona domain,
which I guess is "illegal" anyway (without proper notification, e.g.
BEWARE these snapshots ....).
What is the policy for something like that?
And, can a Cocooner help us on setting up a "cronjob" for generating the
snapshots under the Apache domain?
Thanks

Hello all,
a very good idea, indeed!
I strongly vote for snapshots with everything packed in so that Lenya
is ready to run within minutes. I think this could lower the entry
barrier a bit.

Cocoon ships jetty already, so I would propose that Lenya do it too.
We have always to remember that bandwidth is something that Apache
ultimately pays for, and since Jetty is so smaller... and also faster to
start and easier to co-bundle.
Also, AFAIK, usually Tomcat users have always a Tomcat ready to test it
with a .war, instead of having to redownload it.
So +1 for Jetty from a Cocooner ;-)

we can also have two targets:
snapshot-jetty
snapshot-tomcat

Look at the Cocoon jetty stuff, it should be easy to rip it off from there.

Then we need someone who is familiar with Jetty and is responsible
for maintaining the distribution and provide support on the list.
