I downloaded a fresh version of 2.3.0rc4 and I did not change anything in the config.xml file or any other file. (I attach it on this mail).
And I did my test just after installing the new James. This way I'm sure that I've done nothing bad or wrong.

So by default, it's a file repository.

Can you please tell us what for a repository you use ? file, jdbc,dbmail ?
