Character entities in HTML output

Hi All,

I'm wonderring why Xalan outputs in HTML several characters as named
character entities even when encoding is set to UTF-8. In UTF-8 every
character can be represented as raw data, so there should not be any
character entities (numeric or named). Yet some characters are outputed by
Xalan only as named character entities.

Is there a way to disable in Xalan generation of this character entities? Is
it possible to produce UTF-8 encoded HTML without any character entities?

Thanks
Robert

Working as specified. See
file:///d%7C/user/w3c/tr/xslt.html#section-HTML-Output-Method: " The
html output method should escape non-ASCII characters in URI attribute
values using the method recommended in Section B.2.1 of the HTML 4.0
Recommendation."
