Potential for Pluto 2.1 Milestone release

I'm planning on doing a milestone release of uPortal in the next week or
so and since we're developing against 2.1.0-SNAPSHOT we can't do a
release with the snapshot dependency. Would anyone on this list be
opposed to me cutting a M1 release of Pluto 2.1.0 some time in the next
few days?

Does a milestone release need to go through the same voting process as a
GA release?
Also I found http://wiki.apache.org/portals/Pluto/CuttingRelease in my
bookmarks for cutting a release but it appears to be geared towards
Pluto 1.1. Do we have any docs specific to 2.x for cutting a release? If
not any objections to me updating those pages to reflect the steps for 2.x?
